MARK PORATH, Founder / CEO
Before founding Hearthstone in 1992, Mark Porath worked for the residential joint-venture division of Home Savings, Ahmanson Developments, and as a CPA for KPMG in its Real Estate and Financial Services group. Mr. Porath has served on the Board of Directors of WCI Communities, a leading Southeast master plan developer, and Woodside Homes, a top Western United States private homebuilder. He is co-president of the Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Award which has awarded over $7.2 million to recipients’ charities. He earned his MBA from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in finance and real estate development.
DAVID BRITTAIN, Senior Vice President – Chairman, Land Committee
Having joined Hearthstone in 1997, David Brittain serves as Senior Vice President of Structured Finance and chairs Hearthstone’s Land Committee. He manages Hearthstone’s investment structuring, land banking program, and asset forecasting. Before joining Hearthstone, Mr. Brittain was the general partner in a land development and homebuilding company in Southern California. He received his BA in Mathematics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
CINDY GILMORE, Senior Vice President – Business Development
Cindy Gilmore joined Hearthstone in 1996 and serves as Senior Vice President of Business Development and is a member of Hearthstone’s Land Committee. Ms. Gilmore is responsible for developing new partnerships and maintaining existing builder relationships. Before Hearthstone, she served in sales and marketing management positions with leading homebuilding companies, including Town & Country Homes in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma with a major in Advertising.
BRYCE BRUNSTING, Senior Vice President – Chief Operating Officer
Bryce Brunsting serves as Hearthstone’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and is a member of Hearthstone’s Land Committee. Since joining Hearthstone in 2003, he has managed the due diligence of over 100 residential projects comprising over $2 billion in capital investment. Before joining Hearthstone, Mr. Brunsting served as Senior Vice President for Pacific Century Group, and as a loan underwriter for Bank of America’s Commercial Real Estate Lending Group. He received his BA in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
